North Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council offers various services to the public, businesses and organisations of North Tyneside and this sometimes involves us collecting personal information. This can include information about you and your family, and your personal circumstances.

Apply for a Bigger Bin Application

This section of the privacy notice relates to the bigger bin application and gives information about how we use the data you provide.

Applying for a bigger bin

When applying for a bigger bin, we ask you to provide some data to North Tyneside Council. We will use this data to administer and manage the delivery of the bigger bins. Our ICT Team (Engie Service Limited) can also access this data to help resolve any issues for you if they arise.

If you receive a bigger bin, we will keep your data for as long as you have that bin, plus an additional three years. If your submitted application was unsuccessful, we will keep your data for no longer than three years.

We ask you to provide the following data:

  1. Name, Email address, Phone number and Home address

i) We need your home address to check your eligibility for bigger bins and to deliver your bigger bin.

ii) We need your name and email address or phone number so we can contact you to confirm your eligibility.

  1. Your current bins

We need to know the type and size of your current bins so we can determine what bins you can apply for.

  1. Household Size

We need to know how many people live in your property so we can determine your eligibility for a bigger bin.

  1. Waste you dispose of due to a medical need

We need to know details of the waste you dispose of so we can determine your eligibility for a bigger bin.

Waste Permit Application

This section of the privacy notice relates to the waste permit application and gives information about how we use the data you provide.

Applying for a permit

When you apply for a permit you will be asked to provide some data to North Tyneside Council and its partners, for managing and reporting on Waste Permits. After three calendar years the data will be anonymised and you will not be able to be identified from it.

We ask you to provide the following data:

  1. Name and address

i. We need your address to ensure only residents of North Tyneside Borough use the Household Waste Recycling Centre for domestic use.

ii. To prevent misuse of the site by businesses, we have restricted the number of permits available to each household.

iii. Suez Recycling and Recovery UK employees working at the Household Waste Recycling Centre will use this information to confirm your identity so that you can gain access to the site.

iv. Our Customer Services Team and ICT Teams (Engie Services Limited) can access this data to help resolve any issues for you if they arise.

  1. Vehicle registration

i. To prevent misuse of the site by businesses, we have restricted the number of permits a vehicle can be associated with. This is why we ask you for either your vehicle registration, or if you’re using a hire vehicle.

ii. Suez Recycling and Recovery UK employees working at the Household Waste Recycling Centre will use this information to confirm that the details on your permit match the vehicle you arrive in.

iii. Our Customer Services Team and ICT Teams (Engie Services Limited) will also be able to access this data to help resolve any issues for you if they arise.

When you apply you will also be asked if we can contact you about waste and recycling issues. If you agree to this we will keep your email address for a period of three years. You can withdraw your consent for this at any time by emailing waste.permit@northtyneside.gov.uk

When you apply you will be asked if we can contact you about your experience of applying for a permit and using the waste permit. If you agree to this we will keep your email address for a period of three years. You can withdraw your consent for this at any time by emailing waste.permit@northtyneside.gov.uk

When you visit the Household Waste Recycling Centre

When you visit the Household Waste Recycling Centre you will be asked for your permit token. Our site officer will check your token and verify your name, address and vehicle registration. If you are allowed access, the date and time of the visit, along with the authorising officer will be recorded along with your permit details. This information will be retained for the period of three calendar years for the purposes of managing and reporting on waste permits.

If you are not allowed access and your permit is revoked, the date, time and name of the officer and reason for revocation will be recorded along with your permit details. This information will be retained for the period of three calendar years for the purposes of managing and reporting on waste permits.
